Sapna Cheryan, PhD

Dr. Sapna Cheryan is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Washington. In addition to publishing regularly in top journals including Psychological Science, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Psychological Bulletin, her work has been cited widely in media outlets like the New York Times, NPR, Time Magazine, and Washington Post. In 2012–2013, she was a visiting scholar at the Russell Sage Foundation in New York City, and in 2016–2017, she was a visiting fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University. Dr. Cheryan currently serves on the Social Science Advisory Board of the National Center of Women in Information Technology. Her research investigates the underrepresentation of women and people of color in STEM fields and has explored factors that can increase diversity and inclusion in these fields.
